So, I’ve begun remodelling our bathroom, which took up pretty much the entire weekend. There was smashing of bathtubs, miscalculations with the shut-off valves that resulted in an uninterruped stream of water pouring into the bathroom, miscommunications with some folks who are going to be helping re-do the plumming, 2 dump runs, random help from friends at exactly the right moment, and by Sunday evening, a completely bare bathroom, down to the studs. An empty slate, and also much looming work to put it all back together. I feel kind of exhausted. Normally, mondays don’t feel much different than other workdays to me, but today I’m really feeling it. Also: Home Depot stresses me the fuck out. While convenient as hell, I can only last for about 20 minutes before I really start to loose it. My normally sane brain goes all wonky and I turn into a little baby. I think I need a personal shopper to go to Home Depot for me.

Home Depot is evil. I once walked up to two aproned Home Depot employees and asked if they could help me. One said “Nope!”, the other laughed, and they turned and walked away from me. I try to avoid the place as much as possible. Good luck with the remodel!

yeah, home depot overstimulates me. once you get to know where stuff is at, its much easier. i find lowes to be much easier to navigate, though i don’t think there is one near you?
seanix wants to help..especially now that you’re past demo stage : ) let him know when you’re ready to start building something. we just put in a clawfoot so he knows a thing or two about that. you can buy nicer hardware for less (almost half) then most local places at:
clawfootsupply.com
good luck!!

I’ll give him a call. I would love the help.
Hope that your home projects are becoming manageable. Some of it has sounded brutal.

My husband and I developed a love/hate relationship with Home Depot when we were living in South Seattle and remodeling our bathroom so I can totally relate.
It made me pine for the days of the small mom and pop hardware store. Things might not have been so readily available but, after dropping a couple thousand dollars they’d at least recognize me when I walked in the door.
