Shedding

Can I just say how much I love doing yoga after work on Fridays? Making the transition to the weekend more than just a mental construct is cathartic. It feels like metamorphasis. By the time the practice is over, I feel like I have emerged from the work week to become my better, more beautiful self. All the stress I wasn’t even aware that I had melts away and I’m left there, lying in shavasana, feeling totally at peace.

I couldn’t agree with you more. It’s nice to have some quiet time to stretch out your limbs and release tensions built from the workweek, to consciously breathe and welcome the positive calling of a couple of days off. I always find the Sunday night (or if I’m really motivated, Monday morning) yoga practice to be just as helpful in easing back into the world of adult responsibility….

I’ll have to try the Sunday night thing. I haven’t done that. We ended our weekend yesterday by going to hear the monks chant at St. Marks here in Seattle. The choir is amazing and the acoustics in that place are phenomenal. My friend Jenna said that listening to them was like waking meditation. Also a great way to wind down your weekend.
